A little history......According to Vaughn Stephen Cronin's book "Casper Mountain The Magic Yesterday and Today" Hogadon Basin Ski Area was opened in 1958. Park Avenue was the 1st run cut. In 1960 a group of skiers known as the Central Wyoming Ski Corporation sold shares of stock to individuals for the area to grow. The City of Casper aquired the area in 1975 operating a rope tow and a T-bar. Since then they have been replaced by 2 double chairlifts and a poma surface lift added in 1980-81. In 1984 snowmaking was added to the resort to enhance the natural snow that fell and provide earlier opening dates. Today Hogadon is central Wyoming's "number one" winter recreational spot located 11 miles south of Casper Wyoming. And right around the corner is the Casper Mountain Nordic Ski Trails located at Skunk Hollow. They offer world class terrain used for practice by past Winter Olympic Teams from around the globe!!!
Hogadon hosts many special events throughout the year and provides a professional ski school
and the Casper Mountain Ski Patrol. Also if you're interested in joining this fine group of folks contact anyone listed on their site: http://achristensen1.home.bresnan.net/
As for us we are a volunteer organization established in 1995 for the preservation and beautification of Hogadon Ski Area. Every 3rd Saturday of September from 8:30am 'til Noon we gather at Hogadon to assist in preparing the area for the upcoming ski season. Work details may include painting, trash pick-up, window washing, chopping wood or anything else ski area manager Gary Vantrease finds for us to do. We will provide breakfast, lunch, a Hogadon Tune-Up Day T-shirt, and give you a chance to walk away with a great door prize donated by a local merchant.
